Workout Routine
I get a lot of compliments on my legs, which is strange, since they haven't felt the warm light of the sun in about two years. Anyhow, here's my workout routine.
Stretches!
Butterfly -- keep going until both your thighs touch the ground, and then hold for a minute. I love love butterfly, it's the best.
Seated Hamstring Strech -- 20 seconds leaning with one arm to the same leg, then another 20 seconds with your second arm arcing over (ie. putting your back, both arms, and leg all in one vertical plane). Repeat for both legs.
Standing Quad Stretch -- 20 seconds each leg.
Other Thing -- I can't seem to find the name, sorry! Stand with your legs out, forming as close as you can get to an equilateral triangle with the ground. Then hold a lean to each leg for 20 seconds.
Transversal Split -- 20-30 seconds.
The Bubble
So all of these are meant to work the sides of your butt. It's the hardest part, because unless you're already used to working that part of your body out, it probably didn't develop much.
Curtsy Lunges -- 3 sets, 12 reps each, 40 lbs.
Hip Abductions -- 3 sets, 12 reps each, 40 lbs. I work out at home / without machines, so I do this one laying on the ground! Try it out, it's funky.
The Butt
These are general leg exercises! Good for your thighs and butt.
Goblet Squats -- 3 sets, 12 reps each, 40 lbs. I'm planning on getting some heavier weights (60? 80?) because this isn't nearing failure at all anymore.
Tree Frog Squats (?) -- I saw "frog squats" used to refer to this in an Instagram reel, but they weren't typical frog squats, so I call them tree frog squats! To do them, sit with your feet under your butt (as if you were praying), and then spread them for a 90 degree angle. Holding the weight as you typically do, lift up while keeping your knees on the ground, until your torso is perpendicular with the floor. 3 sets, 12 reps, 40 lbs. (though again, planning on bumping it up).
Hip Thrusts -- The classic. 3 sets, 12 reps, 80 lbs. I do mine leaning back (ie. starting position is at an angle with your head lower than your knees) rather than flat.
Final Thoughts
This whole routine (stretch-bubble-butt-stretch) takes me about an hour usually, and I do it twice a week before/after work! All-in-all, it's pretty good maintenance, but I definitely want to up the weights with a 60 or 80 lb. kettle bell. Not a fan of working out in public / gym settings, so that'll have to do.
On a similar note, I've been wanting to show off my legs a little more in my outfits, so for those who know me IRL, you might start seeing some more of that! Specifically: shorts and (optionally) fishnets, and maybe leggings if I work up the courage. In my day-to-day I'm really quite a baggy-jeans-and-a-tight-tee kinda person. Any exposed skin (or god forbid, a belly-button!) just feels so scandalous T.T
